Inappropriate Urination (Incontinence)

While inappropriate urination is a normal process in housebreaking new puppies, an adult dog that urinates involuntarily may be signs of something more serious. These are typically seen as accidents when a dog is sleeping or completely unaware, or when they are straining to pee (posturing to urinate but only a few drops come out).

Depending on the severity and length of the issue, and the presence of other symptoms, your vet may need to perform a variety of tests (such as a urinalysis) to arrive at a diagnosis.
